The NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc., or better known as WIRES, has been easing the suffering of animals from all over Australia for over 30 years. WIRES received over 90,000 requests to rescue and help native animals in distress during the recent financial year and currently can help up to 1000 a day during Summer and Spring.
WIRES puts all of its resources into preserving, rescuing, rehabilitating, releasing and relocating Australian wildlife while actively inspiring people and organisations to join in the effort. They continue to reach new goals with their commitment to providing care, education and assistance to as many animals, businesses and organisations.
When WIRES was established in 1985, there was nobody who could take specific responsibility of the native animals and their growing need for rescue, care and rehabilitation. Now, they have created a coordinated network of wildlife carers and rescuers since their official launch as an organisation in 1986.
WIRES currently has over 2,500 volunteers who are authorised to rescue, rehabilitate and release wildlife with more volunteers being trained every year. They are also requested to provide wildlife training for organisations and professionals who work with wildlife, offering extensive educational services to our communities through their rescue office, website, social media platforms, talks to schools and community
Beserk is supporting WIRES through this fire season, which is raging more than ever with over 200 fires currently burning. It's impossible to know for sure, but up to at least a billion animals have been impacted by the fires so far alone, and the numbers will continue to rise. Now is the time to take action.
You can also help become a part of the solution by donating directly to WIRES here!
Beserk xx
