Tim Burton's classic! The incredible Beetlejuice. He's the ghost with the most, and he is here to stay at Beserk. Betelgeuse (this is how his name is actually spelt but is pronounced the same. It is also the name of one of the largest stars visible to the naked eye, a red supergiant 640 light-years from Earth!) is a trickster and mischievous ghost. He is a total anti-hero of his own live-action movie.
Betelgeuse is a very rude, crude, and perverted ghost. He gets a little crazy at times and though he seems fun on screen, it is clear he is not a pleasant person to have around in real life, as he constantly invades people's personal space (even to the point of sexual harassment), does disgusting things like spitting in his own coat and makes rather rude gestures. He's no stranger to expletives and obscenities either! He is also quite selfish: his main goal in the movie is to lift his curse and escape no matter who gets hurt in the process. He has the attitude of a sleazy used car salesman. Ironically, he is a corpse who eats insects, including flies and beetles. While crass and unkempt, Betelgeuse has some pretty cool powers, including reality-warping, invulnerability, levitation and flight, regeneration, shapeshifting, teleportation, conjuration, possession, mimicry, and telekinesis.
Beetlejuice was released in 1988 and stars Michael Keaton, Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin, Jeffrey Jones, and Winona Ryder. The plot revolves around Barbara and Adam Maitland, who die in a car accident only to find themselves stuck in the afterlife haunting their own residence and unable to leave the house. When the insufferable Deetz family move into the home, the Maitlands attempt to scare the new family away without success. In comes Betelgeuse, a "bio-exorcist" to save the day! Tim Burton's Beetlejuice is now a cult film. Tim Burton has an abnormal talent for capturing morbid, cartoonish imagery onscreen.
