Availability:
Before using any Manic Panic Semi-Permanent Hair Color, pre-lighten your hair with Flash Lightning Bleach to get the most intense color.
One Bleaching Kit is enough product for short hair of average thickness up to 4 inches in length. Multiple kits will be required for longer hair - about one kit for every 4-5 inches of hair length.
This kit comes complete with:
1 dust-free bleach powder
1 40-volume cream developer
1 mixing tub
1 tint brush
1 plastic cap
1 set of plastic gloves
and instructions for use.
1.3 oz of powder, 4 oz of developer
INSTRUCTIONS:
The MANIC PANIC/FLASH LIGHTNING bleach kit was designed for pre-lightening hair before using MANIC PANIC vegan semi-permanent hair colors. Everything you need to lighten your hair is in this kit. Please follow the instructions carefully. We strongly recommend doing a strand test prior to application. (Take one strand of hair and follow instructions.)
PREPARATIONS:
1. Wearing the enclosed gloves, open the bleach plastic bag. Avoid inhaling powder.
2. Empty the full contents of the bleach powder into the plastic tub provided .
3. Add the full contents of the developer to the bleach powder in the plastic tub. Using the provided brush, blend until all the powder is completely dissolved with no lumps. Mix and blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Let stand one minute. The mixture will thicken.
4. Apply the mixture to the hair avoiding direct contact with the scalp.
* It is important to use all the developer and mix using only the brush provided. Do not use any metal instruments.
APPLICATION:
Hair should be dry and unwashed. Using the provided brush, apply the bleach mixture evenly to hair you wish bleached. All strands should be saturated using the brush or gloved fingers to spread the mixture evenly. You may mask hair you don’t wish to bleach by using a highlight cap or foil.
DEVELOPING:
Use of enclosed plastic cap is recommended through the developing process. The length of the timing depends on the color and condition of the hair. Check hair at regular intervals during the development process as timing varies according to the degree of desired lightening. Check strand every 10 minutes to evaluate lift. To do so, remove plastic cap and wipe away mixture with a damp tissue. If hair has not reached desired level, reapply mixture as before and continue processing. Do not over-bleach.
REMOVAL:
When desired shade is reached, take off the cap and throw away. Shampoo hair thoroughly several times. Rinse thoroughly and towel dry hair.
Strand Test:
Highlighting and bleaching results depend on the color and condition of the hair. A strand test is recommended to give you a better idea about the end results and to avoid any complications with the actual process. Put on the plastic gloves and prepare the strand test mixture in the plastic bowl provided:
1. Open the Flash Lightning bleach powder bag and mix one part powder to three parts developer. Mix well using the tint brush provided in the kit.
2. Your hair should be clean and dry. Comb to remove any tangles. Pull one strand of hair from behind your ear to perform the strand test.
3. Apply the mixture to the hair test strand avoiding direct contact with the scalp, making sure the test strand does not touch the rest of your hair.
4. Check hair at regular intervals during the development process as timing varies according to the degree of desired lightening.
5. Check strand every 10 minutes to evaluate lift. To do so, remove plastic cap and wipe away mixture with a damp tissue.
6. If hair has not reached desired level, reapply mixture as before and continue processing. Do not over-bleach.
7. When desired shade is reached, shampoo hair thoroughly several times. Rinse thoroughly and towel dry hair.
8. Discard any leftover mixture. Thoroughly rinse and dry the mixing bowl prior to actual application.

MANIC PANIC
Manic Panic guarantees all their ingredients and all supplier's ingredients are both vegan & cruelty free, as accredited by PETA®. "Tested On Celebrities, Not Animals®" is Manic Panic's motto! With names such as Siren's Song, Vampire's Kiss, Ultraviolet, Venus Envy, Virgin Snow, Wildfire, After Midnight, Atomic Turquoise, Blue Steel, and Amethyst Ashes High Voltage, you get the idea of their fun and funky attitude toward their products. Often imitated, but never duplicated because Manic Panic isn’t just a brand, it’s a lifestyle!
Because we’re the OGs in colourful vegan and cruelty-free hair dye. But if that’s not reason enough, our hair colours are free of harsh chemicals and fortified to condition your hair while you dye. With each Manic Panic® colour, you can get the DIY look without the damage. That’s colour without compromise!
After you pass the patch/strand test (more about that below), you’re ready to apply your Manic Panic colour to the rest of your hair. Start with clean, unconditioned, and dry hair. Apply the colour evenly in sections to fully saturate the hair strands. Cover your hair with a plastic cap (optional) and blow dry to ensure your hair follicles are primed for absorption (also optional). Leave the colour on for 30 mins-1 hour, then rinse with cool water until it runs clear. Manic Panic colours are free of harsh chemicals, but they can stain towels, clothes, and porous surfaces. Make sure you dry your hair with dark towels and avoid splattering the dye on carpets. We also don’t recommend wearing your fanciest clothes while dyeing. Break out your old band t-shirts instead!
Before dyeing your hair, you should perform a patch or strand test with your dye or bleach to make sure you don’t have any allergic reactions. You can also see if you like the colour before dyeing all over!
Don’t know how to do a patch or strand test? No sweat, we created this little cheat sheet (just for you)! You’ll want to choose a patch of skin or strand that can easily be hidden by the rest of your hair. If you see no signs of irritation, you’re all cleared to #dyehard.
That all depends on the length of your hair! For pixie cuts and short hair, you’ll only need one 4 oz jar or bleach kit. For medium-length hair with thin-average thickness, two jars or bleach kits should get the job done. If your hair is super long or thick and curly, you may need three or more jars or bleach kits. If you don’t end up using all your hair colour, our jars can be sealed and saved later for touch-ups (but go ahead and toss out the bleach since it can’t be saved). Pro tip: We carry 8-oz jars in six shades. Talk about more bang for your buck!
Yes and no. Some of our colours (especially neons, UVs, and pastels) work best on a pre-lightened base. If you want our signature intense colour, we recommend lightening your hair to at least a level 7+ blonde. But we also have colours that give gorgeous colourful tints to dark hair. Each product on our website comes with hair swatches so you can see before and after results on light and dark hair.
If you need a bleaching guide, we’ve got you covered. Watch a tutorial by Mykey O’Halloran for a quick walk-through!
Your base colour is SUPER important since it affects the appearance of tones. If you apply blue pigment on top of a yellow-toned blonde, the results can veer toward a more teal or green hue. The whiter the hair, the truer the colour tone. Before you colour your hair blue, watch a tutorial by Mykey O’Halloran on how to avoid green tints!
Our semi-permanent formula lasts for about 4-6 weeks. But stronger formulas (like our Amplified collection) last longer because they contain 30% more pigment. If you want to fight the fade for longer, we have colour-safe shampoos and conditioners made specifically to maintain our hair colours. Use cool water when shampooing and try to wash hair only once a week (the more you wash, the faster the colour fades). We also have dry shampoo to keep your colour fresh on days when you skip a wash.
This one’s for our silver foxes! While grey hairs appear light, they may not be porous enough to absorb the pigments in our colour. Start with a strand test to see how the colour looks. Some of our more pigmented shades may add a touch or glow of colour. If you can still see greys peeking through, you may need to pre-lighten your hair.
Toning shades like Virgin Snow and Silver Stiletto neutralize unwanted tones (like yellows and oranges) on freshly-lightened hair to make your colour appear truer to shade. You can use them to keep blue shades from appearing green, or use them by themselves for icy white and platinum hair!
To prep your hair for your next Manic Panic colour, you can either let your current colour fade naturally or use a clarifying shampoo like Prepare to Dye to wash it out. You can also use specially formulated colour removers for semi-permanent hair colour. But whatever you do, do NOT bleach your hair again! That will only drive your current colour deeper into your hair follicles, making it harder to remove.
Beserk brings you a huge range of Manic Panic products! Manic Panic is the original vibrant intense range of semi permanent hair dye in all the colours of the rainbow and unicorn hair dye! And that is just the hair!
Renowned for their hair, Manic Panic also offer heaps of cosmetics - nail polishes, lipsticks, foundations, powders, eyeshadows, glitters, mascaras, eyeliners, and face jewels that are too cute it's silly!
Beginning in 1977, Manic Panic's vivid rainbow colour dyes were one of the first products to be sold at the bespoke boutique on St. Mark’s Place. In the 1990s, due to heightened demand, distribution of their products expanded tremendously. Since that time, Manic Panic has worked continuously to make sure their formula remains the best on the market by listening to customer feedback and staying ahead of the trends. How do they stay ahead of the trends? By starting them!
In 2005, Manic Panic introduced their Amplified formula for the "Dye Hards" that were looking for an even longer lasting formula. Manic Panic can guarantee that their products are the best on the market as the dyes continue to be tested and quality-controlled by in-house staff – which includes Tish and Snooky (sisters and founders of Manic Panic and described as "the Martha Stewart's of Punk") to this day!
Beserk has found some of your favourite Manic Panic products and brought them to you! With our selection of hair colours, hair tools, make up and more, you won't need to shop any where else!
Manic Panic hair dye is a semi-permanent hair colour that lasts several weeks. The length of time that the paint will last will depend on how often you wash your hair, as well as the natural colour and porosity of your hair. The colour may only last a few washes if you have very light hair, whereas if you have dark hair, the colour can last up to 6 weeks.
To use Manic Panic hair dye, start by putting on gloves and old clothes that you don't mind getting stained and find a good spot with adequate lighting. Then, after you've done a patch and strand test, apply the dye evenly and fully saturate your strands, making sure to work in small sections from roots to ends. Leave the hair dye in for 30 minutes or longer, then rinse it out with cold water until the water runs clear. Finally, condition for extra softness and shine.
There are a few ways that you can remove Manic Panic hair dye from your hair, depending on how long it has been in your hair, and what type of hair dye it is. If it is a semi-permanent hair dye, then it will usually fade out over time with washing and exposure to the sun. If it is a permanent hair dye, then you will need to use a hair colour remover.
Yes, Manic Panic hair colour is safe. The ingredients are vegan, gluten-free, and PPD-free. Plus, the hair colour is ammonia-free, peroxide-free, and paraben-free. So, you can feel good about using it on your hair.

Used two kits and put it over natural and old dye hair and came out really light, didn’t leave hair feeling brittle and gross, will use again
For a 40vol bleach kit, it didn’t dry my hair, it got my hair so light/white, amazing
