Preparing:
Reduce heating tools in the week before bleaching. Wash your hair the day before and avoid conditioner or any other hair care product. This will promote better colour adherence and seamless blending with your natural hair, resulting in longer-lasting vibrancy.

For best results, bleach your hair to level 8-9 blonde with Herman's Amazing Bleach Kit. Hair that is natural, not treated, is healthier and will suffer less from bleach.

If your hair is too yellow after bleaching, use No Yellow Shampoo or No Yellow Mask to neutralize the yellow into white. Apply and leave it in for 5 minutes.

Using:
Apply a thick layer of Sammy Sunshine hair dye on dry, unconditioned hair and leave it in for 60 - 90 minutes. Herman's hair colours are conditioner-based, so they nourish your hair like a deep conditioner while you colour. Rinse with lukewarm water and enjoy your intense warm yellow hair colour, that will last up to 12 washes (results may vary depending on the base and condition of the hair, the duration of the colour and hair care products).

Maintaining:
- Allow at least 24 hours before your first shampoo
- Wash your hair with cool water to minimize the fading process. Reduce hair washing days to extend colour lasting.
- Use a Sulfate-Free Shampoo or Orchid Complex Shampoo for washing.
- You can store the leftover colour or mix it with your conditioner for a regular touch-up.

Let's talk about quantity. We often get asked, "How much hair colour do I need for my project?" The answer lies in the length and thickness of your hair.

Here is a handy guideline:
-Hedgehog Hair x1 tub
-Pixie or Bob x2 tubs
-Shoulder Length x3 tubs
-Armpit to Mid Back x4 tubs
-Extra Long Hair x5 tubs or more

These are general recommendations. Remember that the actual amount depends on the thickness and condition of your hair. Dry hair absorbs more colour, so it is good to remember that the hair is towel dry when applying the colour.
Why do we emphasize the importance of a sufficient product? Imagine this: You are in the middle of colouring and suddenly you realize that you are running out of colours. Panic sets in, and there is a rush to get more products, but unfortunately the damage is done. Result? An uneven colouring result that may not meet your expectations.
To avoid such dyeing disasters, we recommend stocking up on enough products. Better to be safe than sorry! Also, if you run out of colour, don't worry. You can store an open tub for up to a year or mix it into your conditioner for regular maintenance.

HOW TO DYE YOUR HAIR AT HOME?

PREPARATION
Before using our direct colours, it's good to know things that can affect the end result. Straight dyes require a pre-lightened base to adhere best, so if your hair is natural and unprocessed, or if you still have old colour in your hair, you should lighten it. You can choose either a 3%, 6% or 9% lightening package, depending on the desired end result and the colour and thickness of your hair.
We recommend reducing the use of heat tools in the week before whitening. If your hair is too yellowish after bleaching, use No Yellow Shampoo or No Yellow Mask to neutralize the yellow to whiter. This is important so that the colour becomes as pure as possible and the yellowness does not change the colour into another.
Wash your hair with a deep-cleansing shampoo and avoid conditioners or other hair care products, as they prevent the direct colour from adhering.
USE
Make sure you have enough product for your hair colouring project, as too little colour can make the end result too light, uneven, or the wrong shade.
Comb your hair and work in small sections from the back to the front. Apply a thick layer of hair dye to towel-dried hair and rub it in lightly, as it helps the colour adhere better. Leave the colour on for 60-90 minutes. For a longer lasting result, leave the colour on for 2+ hours or even overnight. Our hair dyes are conditioner-based, so they nourish your hair like a deep treatment during colouring. Use a shower cap or cling film during dyeing to keep the colour moist and to have a better effect.
Rinse with lukewarm or cool water and enjoy your new intense hair colour that lasts 8-12 washes (results vary depending on the selected tone, base colour and hair condition and treatment time, and hair care routines also have a big effect).
GOOD TO KNOW!
The final result is not only affected by the colour itself, but also by the amount of product, degree of lightening, processing time, base colour and condition of the hair, as well as the care products used before dyeing.
Our pastel colours (Vicky, Polly, Rosie, Thelma, Stella and Mika) are usually easier to fade from the hair because they have less intense pigment. They also require a really light base, so they work best on level 10 blonde hair.
Our UV colours (Peggy, Polly, Felicia, Tara, Olivia, Daisy and Mika) shine best on a lighter base (level 10).
All of our hair colours are DIY friendly, so you can easily mix a unique shade or turn any shade into a pastel by adding Blanche Toner.
A successful dyeing result also requires knowledge of colour theory, because especially if you want to change from one shade to another, you may first have to neutralize the old shade in order to get the colour you want.

HOW TO MAINTAIN A BRIGHT DIRECT COLOUR?

It is important to follow certain steps after dyeing with direct colours to keep the colour bright for as long as possible.
Wait at least 24 hours before shampooing for the first time.
Wash your hair with cool or at least lukewarm water to minimize fading.
Use a sulfate-free shampoo for regular washing. Be gentle on your hair and dry it gently with a microfiber towel.
Reduce the number of days you wash your hair by using a dry shampoo or by trying stylish buns and pigtails to prolong the brightness of the colour.
We also recommend reducing the use of heat tools and avoiding direct sunlight, as heat and sun rays affect colour fading faster
Always remember to use heat protection.
You can keep the extra colour and mix it into your conditioner for regular touch-ups.
